Yeah, being an elder was the beginning of the end for me. I work in corporate America and often thought that the politics that I saw in the office was nothing compared to what I experienced in the Borg. My first elders meeting was a huge disappointment. It was a quick adjustment for me, subconsciously, I just thought of being at work and acted accordingly.

Brothers with hearts. Where are they?
by stillin inone poster here mentioned how, after he was appointed as an elder, things took on a more "corporate" feel.
i was an ms and as such went, dutifully, to the bi-annual meetings with the co. i was sorely disappointed.
i had imagined sort of a round-table discussion of trends and potential difficulties in the congregation, along with a coordinated effort to help people out.

My JW Elder Brother Passed Away
by minimus inhe was basically a good man, just a believer in the religion.
when we were both elders we were best of friends and then things deteriorated when i was not an elder for a while.
then after becoming an elder again, i slowly drifted away from the religion and he drifted further away from me.

How Precious Is A Governing Body Mole(Double Agent, 5th Colunm) To Sabatoge The Watchtower Organization?
by Brokeback Watchtower ini would suppose that there are many at very sensitive operations at headquarters and around the world that are moles or double agents a 5th column if you will that are in but mentally out and full of hated for the governing body.. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/fifth_column.
a fifth column is any group of people who undermine a larger group from within, usually in favour of an enemy group or nation.
the activities of a fifth column can be overt or clandestine.

CC - good to see you and so sorry to hear about the tough times you are going through. Many if not most here can relate to your feelings. Considering all the things you are having to deal with, I'm hoping that you are receiving or will consider receiving some professional help. This cult is so destructive in so many different ways that it can seem like there's no good way out. Don't let them win!
PS - I tell myself that every day. Some days are definitely better than others.

How many are PIMO ??
by Phizzy ini know we cannot answer this, how many are physically in, mentally out (pimo), but i heard an amazing piece of news the other day.. an ex-p.o and ex-elder, a long time regular pioneer, and when i knew him a stalwart believer, went for a drink with another jw who has actually left, but is not df or anything.. in the course of conversation he came out with this bombshell "well, i am actually an atheist now, i just go along to keep my wife happy".. i also heard of a number of youngsters that i know personally who are simply living their life as they want, whilst making sure they don't get df'd for family and social reasons.. if as it seems the pimo's are a huge number, could there be a huge " awakening" where they all realize they are in a huge group, and they all say " eff it, lets call it a day on all the jw s**t ".
?.
wishful thinking, but.....just possible ?.

I often wonder how many are like me as I sit there. I suspect a few in the congregation but haven't broached the subject. Still, I think there are more POMI than PIMO. The cult programming is strong.

Blood Card Issue
by pometerre21 ini posted this on r/exjw, but i thought i might post it here as well.
so the elders in our kh are moving to get us to sign new simplified blood cards and keep them on file.
i really need to not rock the boat in my current pimo status because of circumstances.. my cousin knows i have doubts about the blood thing, but i can’t show her that my doubts are getting to me.

Delay, say you need to do research on acceptable "fractions" if pressed. Or keep "forgetting". They will likely move on to the next thing soon enough. The WTS keeps those elders so busy that in my experience, follow-up isn't that good.

Has Politics Changed How You View Your Entertainment?
by minimus inwhen i watch a tv show or movie or even a ball game, i don’t want to be deluged with matters involving politics.
entertainers and sports heros should stick to doing what people pay them for.
entertain us and just do your job!.

Agree, I look to entertainment as an escape from that sort of stuff. Right/left doesn't really matter. Sure, they are entitled to their opinions as am I. But, no one cares what I think and I certainly don't care what they think.
